Couples
Partners of any configuration, married or not, together three years or thirty. Both of you in the room, most weeks.
Couples and family therapy
Two people can sit in the same room for years and describe entirely different marriages. Our work is making space for both accounts at once — without deciding, in the first hour, which one is right.
There is nothing you need to have figured out before you get in touch.
Start whenever you’re readyMost people arrive somewhere in the middle of something. That is the ordinary case here, not the difficult one.
Partners of any configuration, married or not, together three years or thirty. Both of you in the room, most weeks.
Parents and children, step-families, adult siblings, a grandparent who has become part of the household. Whoever the household actually contains.
You do not need the other person’s agreement to start. Plenty of people come on their own first and bring someone along later, or never, and both of those are a real way to do this.
Five descriptions, in the words people tend to use themselves. Pick whichever is nearest — nothing here is a category you get put in and left in.
The same conversation, arriving at the same place. Or the quiet afterwards, once you have both stopped starting it.
Something happened, or something has been thinning out slowly and is hard to point at. People bring both.
Two people who love the same children and do not agree about how. Or a house that has simply got louder than anyone wants it.
Something between you changed, and neither of you has quite said so out loud. It is a common reason to come, and an easier one to talk about with a third person present.
Weighing that openly is a legitimate reason to sit down with someone. It is also not a decision anybody in this practice will make on your behalf.
The logistics, said plainly, so they are not a conversation you have to have on the phone.
Our rooms or yours. Many people mix the two depending on the week, and nobody has to declare which they are doing in advance.
Most work starts weekly and spaces out as things settle. There is no package to buy and no minimum number of sessions.
A limited number of times outside the working day, because two schedules have to agree before anything else can.
Some reduced-fee places are held open. You can ask about one without explaining your finances to anybody.
This is a scheduling and intake page. It is not an emergency service, nobody is watching it around the clock, and a message left here may not be read for some time.
If you or someone with you is in danger, or you are thinking about hurting yourself, please stop here and contact your local emergency number or a crisis line. Those services are staffed right now, by people who can help right now. That is the right call to make, and making it is not an overreaction.
And one thing we would rather say plainly than let you find out later: this page is a demonstration of qualified.at’s intake software. Still Harbor Therapy is a fictional practice. There is no clinician on the other end of this form, and nothing you write in it reaches anyone.
In your own words, however it comes out — a paragraph, a sentence, a list of things that have been going on. You do not need the right language for it. The form reads what you wrote, keeps track of what you have already said, and asks only about the rest.
It takes about two minutes. It asks for no names and no history, and there is nothing to sign at the end of it. Use the Find the right fit button in the corner whenever you’re ready.
